Nollywood actress and media personality, Toke Makinwa has given her thoughts on income imbalance in relationships and marriages.

The movie star stated she is a proponent of dating within your income class, adding that dating someone above one’s financial class can be problematic, especially for men.

“Many men are out of their league when they pursue women above them and later complain that women are materialistic,” Makinwa said. He spoke in a recent episode of the MENtality podcast presented by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.

“I’m a big believer of date within your age and within your class,” she remarked. Then we will have no touching stories. There is a girl at home, a good girl, a girl who will cook dinner with her own money when you don’t have. Still there are men who wish to cheat on her with women they can’t afford.

“God forbid you end up with a guy who hasn’t blown. The day he blows that, that’s when you’ll know his real personality. And that terrifies women. Money doesn’t change individuals; it merely shows who they are. Too many guys are treating harshly women who have sacrificed all for them.”
