Social media activist; A viral video of a woman purportedly celebrating receiving money for her vote in the recently ended Ekiti State governorship election has been denounced by Verydarkman.
In response to the tape, VeryDarkMan bemoaned what he perceived as a rising acceptance of vote-buying among some voters.
He said that voters moan about bad governance, lack of health care, insecurity and lack of public services, yet some still purportedly sell their votes for very tiny amounts of money during elections.
“What kind of future are we creating for ourselves when people are voting on the basis of money? And then the same people will go on and complain about the government,” asked the activist.
He also decried the media’s lack of attention to claims of vote-buying, saying reports and videos about election fraud should be subjected to more examination and media coverage.
His words…
“Each time we have pity for poor people, but many of them do not even pity themselves. This lady is reportedly celebrating after selling her vote for ₦15,000. This was during the just ended Ekiti State election. If any of her parents gets dangerously ill today, I am quite sure there wouldn’t be an ambulance to take them to the hospital. “Top media news should be that video Isaac Fayose put out where people are sharing vote cards, but everywhere is quiet.”
