Jackline Acheampong, known as Gyakie, is a Ghanaian R&B and afro-fusion singer also called Song Bird. She was born on December 16, 1999.Gyakie’s debut song, “Love is Pretty,” released in 2019, paved the way for her second single, “Never Like This.” She was first recognized in August 2020 when the song “Forever” off her 5-track EP “Seed” got radio and topped charts in Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria. Gyakie’s father is Nana Acheampong.

EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION

Gyakie was born and raised in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, Ghana. She studied at the T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School, Kumasi and then Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) for her first degree in international business.

CAREER

Gyakie grew up in a musical family and started working in the studio with her father at age eight.She has taken inspiration from Asa and Ghanaian musician Omar Sterling of the group R2Bees.

Her first song was “Love is Pretty” released in February 2019, followed by “Never Like This”. In August 2020, she released a five-track EP, Seed.The Seed EP’s song “Forever” was played on the radio in Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria. It peaked at number one on various music charts, including Shazam’s Top 200 and Billboard’s Top Triller Global.In March 2021, Gyakie and Nigerian artist Omah Lay released a remix of “Forever. In September the same year, she won the 2021 3Music Awards emerging lady of the year at the 2021 3Music Women’s Brunch.

Gyakie participated in a June 2022 edition of Grammys Herbal tea and White Sofas, a new series where artists talk about their important backstage goods. Her second EP “My Diary” was released in July 2022. Davido, the Nigerian musician, is featured on the EP.
