He was born on 5th March, 1988 in Ashaiman, a suburb of Accra and is the fourth (4th) born in a family of seven (7) siblings. By grade four (4), Stonebwoy had discovered his love and enthusiasm for creative arts, scripting and acting for the theatrical club of his school and also putting words together in a rhythmic fashion.
And the young chap has not stopped singing songs he has written and composed and songs by artists he is influenced by since then. In an industry flooded with people trying out a number of things in a bid to establishing their identity, Stonebwoy is one unique artiste with a sense of direction and purpose. His two albums (available now on iTunes) Grade #1 and Necessary Evil are a compelling debut that signals the entrance of a great and important new musician staking his claim. A decade ago he cut his debut track at home in a family studio.
Since then, Stonebwoy has not looked back. at first year at Senior High School, Stonebwoy came up with a radio DJ/Presenter, Doctor Duncan who was the host of KASAHARI at the time, a real time rap battle programme. It was made the history around the development of an African legend. That programme helped create the likes of Sakordie, Dr Cryme and many more significant rappers in Ghana. More than 10 years ago and Stonebwoy recounts “I fought my way out every weekend with no defeat till date. “Music picked me, I didn’t pick music”.
Some additional follow up songs were published together with his debut radio success Makuma (My Heart) in second year at Senior High School. By third year he had created for himself a burning underground popularity and went on to record another hit called Empress which held him up for years after he left High School in 2007.
