Music career
Derrick Sarfo Kantanka popularly known as Amerado is a Ghanaian rapper living in Kumasi. He shot to fame in Ghana in 2018 with his rap tracks. Amerado was born in the town of Ejisu in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He finished his secondary education at KNUST Senior High School. Amerado started his career in 2015 after placing third in the Solid FM Freestyle Show, and was discovered by Azee Ntwene to join MicBurnerz Music with another rapper Strongman Burner.
He was invited by Mix Master Garzy to feature on the GH Youth All-Stars to produce the official song for peace in Ghana’s 2016 general elections. Amerado’s foray into the Ghanaian music industry started with the release of his first tune “I AM” in 2017. The song was rated number three in the top ten Ghanaian songs for January 2017 by Pulse Ghana. His first EP, Rapmare, was published on the MicBurnerz Music label in November 2017. He was later featured to perform on Sarkodie’s most popular hip hop song, “Biibi Ba” in 2018.
It was nominated for the Best Hiphop Song and the Best Edited Video at the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. Reggie Rockstone, the founding father of the famed music genre hiplife has announced Amerado as one of the best rappers to have come out of Ghana. He made this announcement on his Twitter site on October 1, 2020.

Controversy
Amerado has been battling throughout the years to maintain the rap crown of the younger generation in Ghana. He had an issue with Obibini sometime in August 2021. He has released “Obiaa boa” which others perceive as a diss song to Lyrical Joe.
