Panshak Henri Zamani (born October 30, 1984) is one of the biggest rappers to come out of Nigeria.

The 36-year-old is known in his professional life as Ice Prince. He rose to stardom in the industry with the release of smash singles Oleku, Superstar and Juju.

His debut album Everybody Loves Ice Prince was released in 2011. He was signed to Chocolate City Music Group before, and climbed to the position of Vice-President of the label.

He has since released two additional albums, Fire Of Zamani and Jos To The World, since his first album.

Early Life

Panshak Henri Zamani (born 30 October 1984), known professionally as Ice Prince, is a Nigerian rapper and singer. He was born in the Niger State’s capital of Minna. He is from the Angas ethnic group of Plateau state.

At two years old, his parents moved to the city of Jos in quest of better work possibilities. So, Ice Prince went with them down to Plateau State and stayed there for the next 20 years. Ice Prince lost his mother in her chilly hands of death while he was in his 20s.

Music has always been on Ice Prince’s mind. He started creating and performing rap songs at school functions at the age of 15. By the time he was seventeen he started to record the tunes.

Ice Prince started a group named ECOMOG with several of his buddies who were music freaks. That was in 2002. Alas, the group wasn’t to stay together for more than a year before breaking up.

While in the institution, he got familiar with the likes of MI Abaga, Jesse Jagz, Ruby, Lindsey Abudei. And they founded a group named Loopey Crew.

Educational Background

While in Jos, Ice Prince attended St. Murumba College for his high school education. He also attended the Science Technical College, Jos.

He had good scores in high school and applied for Zoology at the University Of Jos. He was accepted.

But he could not go on with his studies owing to lack of money and dropped out of university.

Musical Career

Ice Prince and other members of the Loopy Crew performed at musical shows and activities that were held at the University Of Jos. This helped Ice Prince become popular in the student community and build his fanbase.

The rapper rose to fame after releasing his song Oleku. The song hit #1 on the charts for weeks and played by radio stations all over the country. By the time he started recording his first album, Ice Prince had signed a record deal with Audu Maikori’s Chocolate City Music. His debut album Everybody Loves Ice Prince was released in 2011. Notable singles on the album include Superstar and Juju.

In 2013, he released his second studio album, Fire Of Zamani. The album comprises commercially successful songs such as Aboki, More, V.I.P and Gimmie Dat.

In 2015 Ice Prince began production on his third studio album and in 2016 the album was completed and released to the public. The album, named Jos To The World, was mixed and mastered by Universal Music. 2015 saw the release of his first EP. He called it the Trash Can project. In 2018 he released his sophomore Extended Play C.O.L.D.

From his breakout in 2011 Ice Prince has had the privilege to work with the top talents in the industry. Notable names include MI Abaga, Lola Rae, Eldee, Banky W, Wizkid, Jesse Jagz, Naeto C, Terry Tha Rapman, DJ Neptune, Bez, amongst others.

Awards and Nominations

2009: Ice Prince wins Hennessy Artistry Club Tour. He also received the 2012 Headies Award for Best Rap Album.

That same year he won three African Artist Of The Year, Best Rap Single and Song Of The Year at the Ghana Music Awards.

Ice Prince has had his shot at the acting business and fared well. He starred in the movies House Of Gold and Shuga.
