Ghanaian hip-hop performer Medikal (born 4 April 1993) is signed to Criss Waddle‘s AMG Business record label. His true name is Samuel Adu Frimpong.

He is one of the hardworking rap artists in Ghana as he gradually acquired the favor of many Ghanaians via the adoption and repertoire of his hard-hitting Hip-Hop compositions.

Ghanaian rapper Medikal who has already garnered a loyal fan base has churned out a number of successful songs such as Confirm, Forever My Love (with Bisa Kdei). He was also featured by 2016 Ghanaian music artist of the year E.L on his latest mixtape B.A.R III: Lomi Era.

Medikal has the most nominations at the 2017 Ghana Music Awards, and he fought against other big names such as Sarkodie.

Through effort and several partnerships with big names in music, Medikal has carved a niche for himself in the music world. He was also crowned IARA’s finest African musician in 2018.

Medikal Early Life

Medikal was born on 4 April 1993 as Samuel Adu Frimpong. He was born to Porshia Lamptey (mother) and James Frimpong (father) both from Ghana.

Medikal went to Odorgonno Senior High School. Adwoa Frimpong is Medikal’s sister.

He was trained by Mr James Frimpong and Mrs Porshia Lamptey in Sowutuom, a suburb of Accra.

Medikal Musical Career

Medikal started rapping about medical issues from a very young age. When he was rhyming to himself, he used to rap about hospitals and how they work to rhyme out the medical procedure to his name.

Then he choose the rap stage name his friends suggested, which became his permanent moniker over time.

The Grammy-winning rapper draws inspiration from musicians such as Lil Wayne (from the United States), Skepta (from the United Kingdom), Sarkodie, Paedae and Criss Waddle.

Medikal then signed to Criss Waddle’s record label, Arab Money Gang Record Label (AMG).

Some of his biggest tracks have seen him collaborating with artistes like Bisa Kadie, Criss Waddle, Confirm Remix with Sarkodie, Connect, Sales, Heart Boy and Medikal Bra Krom.

Medikal Personal Life

Medikal had been lonely for a while until he met Fella Makafui, the love of his life. Like every relationship, the two have had their share of struggles.

It was alleged that Medikal dated Fella Makafui before dumping her for Sister Deborah. Medikal and Fella Makafui were again in each other’s arms thanks to the anticipated u-turn that love always makes. The couple wasted no time and got married on March 7, 2020.

The rapper’s hard work started to pay off and he began to get national and international recognition.

The 2017 Ghana Music Awards saw powerful underground rapper, Medikal tie Sarkodie for the most nominations with seven nods.

He got the Best Discovery Video for Anthem at the MTN 4Syte Music Video Awards in 2016.
