Obibini (an acronym for Obviously Black Is Beautiful, Infinite & Naturally Inspiring) is a Ghanaian Hip Hop rap artist, record producer and performer who aspires to be a leading centre in the edutainment sector. He aims to set up the School Of Afrikan Knowledge (SOAK) which will combine entertainment and the arts to enlighten, entertain and bridge generational gaps.
He is from Effiduase, a town in the Sekyere East area of the Ashanti Region of Ghana and was born to David Kwaku Effum Boafo on the 23rd of October. He received his secondary education at Adisadel College.
The rapper has always had a passion for music growing up listening to Ghanaian favourites Reggie Rockstone, Obrafour, Outkast and Busta Rhymes. His newfound interest led him to start writing his solo melodies and eventually establish a four-piece band called the Ill Deadly Ministers (IDM) while in high school.
Obibini is passionate about making quality material and so he concentrates on strong lyrics when making his tracks. His music style is Rhythmic Afrikan Poetry. He has a unique style that mixes Twi and English and he thinks it will help him to progress in the music industry, that is why he wants to learn to sing.
He started his career in the underground rap area of the Ghanaian entertainment business. Obibini’s debut song did not completely satisfy a major part of his fan base, considering his massive fan following, who thought he has been unsigned for far too long.
He has so far enjoyed success in his profession courtesy to a recording agreement with Zylofon Music which has supported his career all these years. Obibini is a lover and fan of music and he cares about the progress of his music and the music business in general.
Early Life of Obibini
Obibni was born on 23rd October 1988 in Effiduase, a town in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, the capital of Sekyere East to Mr and Mrs Effum Boafo. He is the 4th of 4.
Obibini had his elementary and JHS education at Effiduase and after clearing his BECE with flying colours, he obtained admission to one of the top SHS in the country Adisadel College.
Obibini Musical Career
Obibini is a music prodigy who always knew that he will become a renowned artist the day he was born. During his time at Adisadel College, he was part of a four-member band called the Ill Deadly Ministers (IDM).
It shaped his lyrical style and content. He also once disclosed he used to listen to Reggie Rockstone, Obrafour, Outkast and Busta Rhymes who mentored him then.
He released a couple of songs and EPs that were not successful as he was not under the wings of any record label before breaking into the mainstream media.
Obibini has been rapping underground for close to 5 years and eventually made it to the big scene on 28th June 2017 after signing a deal with Zylofon media which he purportedly received a Rolls Royce from the music entity.
The 4 year-deal arrangement also involves distribution, advertising, manufacturing and marketing
Obibini on 13th July 2017 released his first project under the Zylofon label dubbed “The Statement”. Produced by Skinny Willis
Since then he has been dropping back to back songs such as (Gogo wo ho, Ahyi Me ft KiDi, Get a life, Balenciaga ft Sarkodie, 32 bars) and many other bangers.
His most viewed video on Youtube currently is his track dubbed ‘Ahyi me” ft KiDi which garnered over 1.8 million views.
Awards and Nominations of Obibini
In an interview with Sammy Flex on Zylofon FM in February 2021, Obibini proudly said that the history of rap in Ghana cannot be written without him since he is a powerful force in the game.
“Every best rapper award that anybody has ever won, it belongs to me,” he stated.
In 2018, Obibini was nominated in the ‘Best Rapper’ category at the Ghana Music Awards UK.
He also got nominated by many award programs and won a couple of awards.

Obibini net worth is estimated at $150,000 with over a decade of experience in the music industry. Obibini boasts a collection of costly cars such as a Porsche and other 4×4 SUVs.
