The artist formally known as Batman is like Prince and Diddy not because of their constant change of names but for their musical achievements – Emmanuel Samini. He was born on 22nd December, 1982 to Mr. G.A Samini and Theresa Nusala. He is from Wa in the Upper West Region.
Early Life and Education
He had his Basic and Primary Education at Holy Family Basic School and later proceeded to St Margaret Mary Sec School, Dansoman for his Secondary Education.
Samini Music Career
From his very humble beginnings as guest artist on numerous successful tracks, Batman rapidly grabbed the hearts of many young women and indeed any lover of fine music with his faultless vocal skills, punchy lyrics and exciting infusion of reggae and dancehall rhythms with African beats and flair. His slogan “Kpooi” is widely appreciated by his fans and according to him, it’s a gunshot sound meant for all the back bitters.
His debut album, Linda, was an immediate hit. He received two Ghana Music Awards for Hiplife Artist of the Year and New Hiplife Artist of the Year. He followed up with his sophomore album Samini in 2006 which boasts of big tunes like Odo.
The self-titled album was to be the genesis of his gradual ascent as Samini, a persona that would make him look like a genuine African artist. On his 25th Birthday, December 22nd 2006, Batman officially changed his name to Samini.
Today Samini has become a successful artist with multiple Ghana Music Awards to his name including the Best Artiste of 2007 and a Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Award. He also bagged the best African artist in Nigeria at the 2008 Hip-hop World award. He has performed Canada, UK, Holland & Italy, Nigeria.
He has performed on stage with singers like as shaggy and Ja Rule; he has worked with artists from over the African continent. He’s appeared on around 50 other artist recordings (released and unreleased).
He is the face of MTN in Ghana. His ringtone/caller tune may be heard on MTN across Africa.
Some of his hits are Odo, Samini Music, Linda and Gyae shee. Stonebwoy was one of the musicians he supported to come to limelight.
