Yemi Alade was born in a Nigeria family, a multi-tribal home to be precise, where she was nurtured by both parents James Alade (father) and Helen Uzoma (mother).
Her father James Alade is from Ondo State where he was a commissioner of police and her mother Helen Uzoma is from Abia State — both in Nigeria, Yoruba and Igbo respectively. Yemi Alade reveals she has mastered both parent tongues.

When Yemi Eberechi Alade broke into the Music Industry, she was a student at the University of Lagos.
Her first album King of Queens was published on October 2nd 2014. The album was a cooperation with several famous music artists and producers like Young D, Selebobo, Mr Chidoo, Philikeyz, Fliptyce, Beat Nation and few Others.
Before the release of her debut album, her hit singles Johnny, Kissing, Tangerine The Singles hosted the likes of Phyno, Chidinma, Bovi, Selebobo, R2Bees and Diamond Platnumz. Her trip of Kenya, Ghana and South Africa was a promotional run for her new record.
Yemi Alade announced the release of another album, Mama Africa which is dated back to 25 March 2016, a song that focuses on the frailty and the strength of African Ladies, almost 2 years after the release of her debut album.
The album is a blend of highlife, Afropop, R&B, hip-hop and pop. Yemi Alade has admitted that making the album was a hard as she was constantly travelling to various nations each day. She also said she made the album to “capture all of Africa on a CD.”
Yemi Alade told The Fader magazine that she collaborated with other singers from West Africa, East Africa and South Africa. Selebobo, DJ Coublon, Philkeyz, BeatsByEmzo, Rotimi Keys, Masterkraft and Mr. Chidoo were recruited to provide the album GospelOnDeBeatz.
Mama Africa has guest appearances by Sarkodie, P-Square, Sauti Sol, Dj Arafat, Rotimi Keys, Flavour N’abania and Selebobo.
Black Magic is the third studio album by Nigerian singer Yemi Alade. The album is a follow-up to her 2017 EP Mama Africa and featured guest spots from Falz and Olamide.
