Very Dark Man Biography and Early Life

Martin Vincent Otse was born on 8 April 1994, in Kaduna, Nigeria. He is a native of Benin City, Edo State but was born in Kaduna. Otse was brought up in Kaduna and schooled there.

Martin Vincent Otse, popularly known as Very Dark Man, is an alumnus of the University of Lagos, where he earned a degree in Business Administration.

Career

VeryDarkMan’s career in social media activism started in 2022. His association with Nigerian celebrities first brought him to the notice of many and this led to a growth in his online following. Then he began to turn out a succession of pictures that caused a stir.

His content went viral by early 2023 adding to the controversy revolving around his online persona. In June 2023, Nigerian singer Davido followed him on Instagram and showed his support openly. She was nominated for the Most Influential Social Media Influencer of the Year award at the Silverbird awards in January 2024.

Controversy

Otse was arrested in March 2024 on charges of cyberbullying and cyberstalking, which included creating false allegations against Nigerian actors and authorities. He pled not guilty and was remanded in custody to appear for trial on 29 May 2024. He was released after two weeks in detention.

In June 2024, he was arrested again at his Abuja residence on defamation charges for an online exposé. Otse was questioned by authorities on June 30, 2024, over allegations of slander and released shortly thereafter. There were no arrests, despite early claims.”

A letter from the law firm of Falana & Falana Chambers served on Otse on September 26, 2024 gave a 24-hour ultimatum demanding immediate retraction and apology for purported defamatory claims against Femi Falana in an Instagram post on September 25, 2024.

He was arrested for alleged cyberstalking on May 2, 2025, shortly after visiting the Guarantee Trust Bank branch in Abuja to complain about alleged fraudulent withdrawals from his mother’s account. The arrest was carried out by masked people whose identities have not been fully disclosed following debates as to whether they belong to the EFCC or the DSS. After spending five days in detention, he was freed on administrative bail on May 7, 2025.

On September 25, rapper Falz issued an ultimatum demanding an apology from VeryDarkMan for allegedly defamatory statements made against him and his father over bribery suspicions involving Bobrisky.

It all started on March 18, 2024, when an interview with Bobrisky went viral. During the interview, Bobrisky narrated how he had been abused due of his sexual orientation.

The comments section was filled with individuals condemning him for looking like a lady citing rules that ban men from dressed like women.

Verydarkman wanted this cross dressing to be arrested along with others. He accused Bobrisky of obtaining preferential treatment from lawmakers and of going under the knife.

In response, she posted footage of VeryDarkman’s previous sexual encounters, accusing him of being a hypocrite. Their story has been finished.
