Early Life

Sharon Ooja Egurube, popularly known as Sharon Ooja, was born on the 6th of April, 1991. Sharon Ooja hails from a local government in Benue State. She is Idoma cultural woman from Nigerian Middle Belt. Sharon Ooja was born and raised in Kaduna state until she moved to Jos for her basic school. She had her primary school education at Kings and Queens School, Jos where she obtained her FSLC.

She acquired her First School Leaving Certificate before proceeding to two all-girls boarding schools, St. Louis Girls’ College, Jos and Regina Pacis Secondary School, Garki II, Abuja. She accomplished her basic schooling and obtained her Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) there.

She then went to Houdegbe North American University in Cotonou, Benin Republic. Houdegbe North American institution is a private institution located in Cotonou, founded to give quality education in a bilingual curriculum with English and French language courses.

She completed her studies in the college with a degree in Mass Communication just as her acting career started to blossom. Most of the Nollywood actors and actresses juggled acting and school at the same time, but Sharon Ooja would finish one before starting another.

Sharon Ooja Career

Sharon Ooja began her acting career after she moved to Lagos in 2013. Sharon told the Nigerian newspaper, Punch, about her entry into acting. Sharon Ooja said it started at a photo session for a store, with NdaniTV documenting behind-the-scenes events.

The next week she was asked to come in for an interview for a television show that never happened. Sharon Ooja was later cast in a minor role in the television series Gidi Up.

Her major break came when she was cast in the series ‘Skinny Girl In Transit’ (SGIT) as Shalewa, the younger sister to Tiwalade. She played a trendy, rather pampered young woman, often involved in romantic relationships. Sharon Ooja introduced a blend of drama and humor to the series, which thrust her to the forefront of Nollywood’s acting business.

Sharon Ooja was also in ‘Glamour Girls’ where she was reported to have fallen unwell on set. Glamour Girls is a Nigerian drama series that follows a group of ladies as they deal with the high stakes world of luxury, power and beauty in Lagos.

Their dreams, their dealings and the ethical quandaries they meet on their road to success and wealth are what the story is about. The series explores topics such as love, betrayal and the often difficult balance between personal demands and societal standards. Glamour Girls is a Nigerian television sitcom featuring Sharon Ooja as Emma.

Her acting prowess has been displayed severally as she has featured in a couple of movies including “Dead Serious” with Sabinus, Nkem Owoh and Deyemi Okanlawon and “Still Falling” with Daniel Etim Effiong amongst others.

The film “Òlòtūré” stars Sharon Ooja as the titular character, Òlòtūré, a young Nigerian journalist who goes undercover to expose the horrible world of human trafficking.

Òlòtūré poses as a prostitute to infiltrate a trafficking network and witness first hand the awful realities of women caught up in the illegal trade. Here she pulled out all the stops proving once again she was more than she was being depicted as.

Sharon Ooja is also an influencer and brand ambassador for brands including Schweppes, Boz Diamonds, VSP Botanicals and Throne Homes. Sharon Ooja has her engagements and brands on her Instagram. Sharon Ooja’s acting career can only get better as it looks more promising as she grows.

Personal Life: Sharon Ooja’s Husband

Sharon Ooja is married to Ugo Nwoke. They were together for two and a half months before they got married. The actress stated in March 2024 that she had a private civil wedding ceremony with her spouse whom she calls “Odogwu silencer” In June 2024, Uoja married Ugo Nwoke in front of her family, friends and workmates. The traditional part of the event was held on June 27, 2024, the white wedding on June 29, 2024.

Ooja’s husband, Ugo Nwoke, was said to have gone through three divorces and had three children from prior marriages.
